PORTER-CABLE 7800 Drywall Sander Review

Porter-Cable 7800 Drywall Sander

The Porter-Cable 7800 is expensive but it is an excellent drywall sander. It is easy to use and saves you a lot of time. If you need a drywall sander, then you should have a closer look at the Porter-Cable 7800.

Sanding drywalls and ceilings is time-consuming and hard work. The Porter-Cable 7800 does not turn the task into pure enjoyment but it saves a lot of time and effort. One of the secrets of the Porter-Cable 7800 is to not force the sander by using pressure, just let the sander to the work. Once you know that, it is easy to use the sander.

Dust is always a problem when sanding but the Porter-Cable 7800 has an excellent dust collection system. Very little dust is escapes it. But note that you are supposed to connect the sander to a shop-vac, otherwise the dust collection is less efficient. It comes with a 13 foot static-dissipating 1-1/4″ vacuum hose.

Thanks to the design of the Porter-Cable 7800, you can sand up to 10′ ceilings without stilts. It is fairly lightweight, 8.5 pounds, making it easy to sand ceilings. But your arms may get tired if you are sanding ceilings for longer periods of time.

Variable speed, 5 settings, makes it easy to control the sanding. The Porter-Cable 7800 uses standard 8 7/8 inch hook and loop abrasive discs.

Be aware that due to the round pad, the Porter-Cable 7800 can’t reach all the way into corners. A small part of the corner has to be sanded manually. Fortunately, it is only a very small part.

Porter-Cable 7800 Drywall Sander is backed by a one year limited warranty.

“I couldn’t be more happy. Virtually dustless sanding. The wand is fantastic because my arms weren’t worn out from hand sanding. Doesn’t get corners so there is some minor hand sanding, but that is fine with me considering the time, effort, hassle, clean-up and money that this machine has saved me. Highly recommended”

“life saver for ceiling work! product worked as described and has very little dust when using. I used my shop vac and installed the high efficiency bags. this worked fine. the tool works great and has plenty of power.”
